I bought mine a couple of years ago for my Glock 19 because I find IWB to be not very comfortable. I love the holster but living here in Florida doesn't give me many concealment options. Mostof the year I wear shorts with T or polo shirts and it is very difficult to conceal while wearing this holster. I only get to wear it on the rare occasions when I can put on a heavy sweater or jacket.
If I was looking for an active retention holster I would choose the Galco M6X retention system over the SERPA and as an added plus it pulls the firearm in a bit closer to the body (with a good gun belt) than the SERPA.
See the second half of this short VIDEO.
Be mindful of that Index Finger. Don't let this happen to you.

That guy had that Beretta 92 cocked in the holster. Not a good plan with that gun in any holster.

That Galco m6x Looks legit and right in price range about $40
When I get another handgun I'll have to check that out..
Also having a gun cocked in any holster with any given sudden/unexpected life threating situations could be very dangerous..
Or even just anyways you'd of course need to be EXtra careful...
Nice Isaiah Yeh there really nice..
Also yeh these to conceal pretty good..Youd need either a jacket of some sort or could pull it off with a shirt and an overshirt(button up type) over that..But not nearly as well..
Anyways yes not the best CC holster by any means..But other than that just a great overall holster quality/performance especially for the price.and Once You can get a hang of the serpa technology and the safety behind it and make sure you keep it free from any debris..
Hey I took some pics of mine..And I will post them later.
If you love the Blackhawk Serpa, but are worried about debris, or the ability to use it in a training class, there is always the Blackhawk Sportster CQC.
Comes with both the paddle and belt attatchment same as the Serpa. Cost.....$20.00
I have a serpa holster but mine just has the belt loop attachment. Does the paddle device pull the gun in closer to ur body. I do use a thick gun belt with mine at the 3 o'clock position. Mine get used a lot during winter coat time in fact used it today. I also use it a lot around the house and on the farm to tote my SW 642.
Paddle pulls it a little closer.
I'm issued a Level 3 version and I can't see how, even omitting the hood, the holster would be thin enough to comfortably conceal. These are OWB holsters, correct?
I have one in my drawer. I don't use it at all. The gun rattles in it and makes noise as I walk, sticks out too far. I can see it has its place in the market. Seems to be well made.
The paddle will pull it in to your body a little closer.
There is no rattle with the sportster model, at least not with my G19

Great adjustable retention (can hold it upside down and shake it pretty good, gun stays put).
Also heres the Difference in proper Serpa Release
Yes, it was my first holster for my G 19. Nice and very versatile, IMO.
