I know what you're talking about, and I have dozens of Fist holsters.
I do have some thicker belts. If you look at that open slot in the clip...it's a metal piece the has been punched forward, and as long as it goes under the edge of the belt, it works just fine.
I've not had any problems. High Noon has some high quality belts, and some of them are rather thick...no problem with the holster handing on...it can't be pulled off. If the belt is 1.5 inches, the thickness shouldn't matter.
