Most of the carry options that I have seen include something that clips to the belt. In the summer, I am in dress pants and a polo shirt that needs to be tucked in. I am looking at buying a S&W shield (9mm).
What would be my best option?

The BEST option is something you'll have to decide, but I see three possibilities...
Pocket carry, fanny pack, or this: Closing Argument
High Noon makes some quality leather holsters. I have this for my Glock-26 which is a smaller gun and conceals well. With the Glock and my shirt tucked in...the wife couldn't tell.
I seldom tuck a shirt in, and I'm now completely retired. The Closing Argument is for those time I have to tuck in the shirt.

Their are a few that make clips that blend in with belt and attach behind the belt. Of course the Remora would work perfect for you:

I had to carry with a tucked in polo for the past four years. I used an older tuckable Comp Tac C-tac (similar to far left in pic) for my G27, appendix carry IWB (Beltman belt); no problems.

I think that your best option would be an SHTF Gear holster with tuckable leather belt loops.

I'd check out Old Faithful (Old Faithful Holsters - The Holster Store of Most Comfortable Gun Holsters). I usually carry with my shirt out, however there are times when I have to tuck my shirt in. My EDC is a S&W Sigma 9mm and even with my shirt tucked in it is pretty well hidden. The Old Faithful works great, feels good, and it isn't that expensive.
Kangaroo Carry might work for you, it's what I use for very discreet carry at church. Kangaroo Carry

I have carried with a tucked in shirt a few times - about once a week for the past couple months or so. I use either a Raven Concealment Vanguard 2 or a Dale Fricke Zacchaeus. I don't know if both are available for the Shield or not - I carry a G20/G21

I do it often with a belly band. Kangaroo carry would work too.

OP, there are some holsters that have belt clips. Some go over the belt; some go under the belt. There are some that go inside the belt so to speak... they're meant for deep concealment and work similar to velcro. The hook has one part of the velcro and the belt has the other part... Crossbreed holsters has them and calls them V clips.
"J" clips are much less noticeable. Fist and Crossbreed came to mind right away but, I'm sure other manufacturers sell them as options.

*The Crossbreed "V" clip mentioned above is another alternative. These use velcro. The down side to this is that you must have a belt lined with the stuff to match up with the "hooks".

Try a bellyband. Very inexpensive an versatile.
