    Carrying while skiing

OK, do you ski? And do you carry while skiing? If so how do you carry??

I'm kind of thinking a shoulder rig would be most practical as it'd be hard to wear an IWB or OWB with ski pants (farmer john style and no belt loops in the middle). I also might end up getting snowboarding pants just so that I can wear a belt.

If you must carry on the slopes, a shoulder rig makes the most sense....you don't want to be falling on a hip rig...when I have this predicament I always ask myself, 'what would James Bond do'?

Hmm.... I think I remember something that doesn't look like a holster that was chest mounted. That might be an option. Although the shoulder rig is what I tought of originally.

In that case a Ski Pole Gun is probably the weapon for you.

I carry a S&W 340PD in the right front pocket of my ski pants. I have a waterproof Uncle Mike's holster. It works well for me because I don't have to undo my ski parka or any other layers. The revolver stays body temperature, and access is excellent. Also, it won't hurt me in a fall like a SOB or shoulder holster might.

I carried my wife's KelTec P3AT in a pocket holster last time we went skiing (well, she went skiing, I went falling down the mountain a lot ... I should save myself the lift ticket and ski rental fees and just stay in the parking lot jumping off my car and landing on my face over and over again).

    Pocket carry works great!

Shoulder and chest would not be viable when you go in to warm up.

A 6 inch 44 magnum in a shoulder rig is your best bet. Each time you make it to the bottom just take your jacket off. It's amazing, but most people willl ask you to go ahead of them in line.

Well... my 44 mag is only 4"

Hmmm I don't have anything that is the "pocket gun" size.... so it looks like a well placed shoulder rig might be in order. I might have to stay in the jacket all the time and just unzip it when it gets warm.

Seriously though, the crime rate on most slopes is farily low...I ski and never ever heard of anyone needing a gun on the slopes...plus, you are more likely to die from the avalanche your gun sets off than at thehands of another skiier.

Good point although it's one of those things: would hate not to have it should the need arise......

All right then, have at it...but don't wear mittens, it puts you at a tactical disadvantage...
