FIST INC #1 and #1A for Ruger SP101 3"...anyone have experience with this holster?

As you can see in another thread here, I recently picked up a SP101 .357 with the 3.06" barrel and I've come to realize that finding a holster for this beast isn't all that easy.

I'm looking to IWB at 8:00-9:00 (lefty) and the best options that I have found are the FIST #1A, Silent Thunder (I like the adjustable cant), and the Sideguard Tuck Clip (tuckability isn't required but would be nice).

I liked the look and price of the FIST #1/#1A but my question is this...They offer a bodyshield option to put extra leather between the pistol and your body and I like that. Has anyone carried a revolver in this holster? Is there enough leather to cover the metal parts of the revolver (I'm not concerned if the grip touches my skin) or should I add the body cover option?

Also, the price is right on the FIST holster...which makes me a little nervous. How is the general quality of their holsters?

I think I like the single clip IWB option for the SP101...are there any other recommendations from anyone?

    Thanks in advance!

I can speak to their (FIST) quality, as I have a #1A for each of my Glocks. They are superb. I originally got them as a "grab-n-go" option, but found that I liked them better than fancier 2-clip rigs. Very stable on a properly-sized good gun belt. I ordered one as a gift for a friend (I saw him mexican-carry a Glock and freaked out on him) a few months ago, and learned they are running a little behind on production right now, but they'll eventually get it to you, and it's worth the wait.

I have owned two FIST holsters in the past. They are top notch quality. The belt clips are durable and their customer service is outstanding. You should have no fear when ordering as they are a stand up company.

I have ordered over 3 dozen Fist holsters through the years...their quality is top notch. I have both IWB's and OWB'z, and even one of their shoulder holsters.
I have quite a few 1A's for various guns, and quite a few #12 Basics. I get the body protector only for the IWB's...it is worth the few bucks extra to have the leather between the gun and body. The clip on the 1A is very strong and keeps the holster stable with a good belt kept snug. I have some of my 1A'a that are pushing 7 or 8 years, and the clips are still going strong.
The 1A is an easy 'on/off' holster which provides one-handed re-holstering.
I have both the 1A and #12 Basic for my Ruger SP101/3"...you won't be disappointed with either.
    Although I have a #1, I've never used it...I prefer only 1A's...I like the can't.

    All-

Thanks for the feedback. FIST's website leaves a bit to be desired so I had more questions than normal. I may need to add a holster fro my G26 as well.

    reptsupt-

I take it that you have the "body protector" on your SP101 holsters?

Thanks for such a thorough answer

Sorry about that. I'll learn to read someday.

I have the 1AK for my Walther and it is extremely comfortable. Good price, good service.
