I think it is mostly personal preference. That said, I really dislike snaps. The larger the rig, the more they might make sense.

    Glad you asked!

Not long ago I was at our local Wally World carrying my Kimber 1911 in an Alessi CQC OWB holster, when all of a sudden...

Something just didn't feel right on my 8 o'clock. Looked around and walked to an aisle that no one was in and briefly lifted up my cover garment, low and behold one of the snaps had come unsnapped and the gun was at about a 45 degree angle. Sure was hoping the other snap held until I got to the car!

I now use belt slots on all my OWB holsters. IWB clips generally never have any problems with.

For positive attachment, I'd say (for me), in order of reliability: slits for belt; clips; snap loops. I've had a couple holsters in which the snaps come undone during carry. Clips never seem to have a problem. Slits on holsters never seem to have an issue, unless they tear (30yrs down the road, if ever).

Preference from the point of usability: clips over snap loops. Though, most clips seem a bit more obvious than loops of leather that match the color of the leather belt.

Clips for convenience, snaps for security.

That said, good clips can be plenty secure.

I like my OWB loops, but my Fist clip IWB holsters work just fine.
The OWB loops are a bit more comfortable and take a bit longer for on/off, but the IWB clips are great for easy on/off...it's really where I'm going and for how long.
Never had snaps, but I'm sure that many swear by them.

I also have both. Normally, I prefer snaps, but only because many clips are badly designed. Fist and High Noon have well designed clips (I'm sure there are others).

There's not a lot of difference, IMO. I do like that snaps/loops won't scratch up your gun belt.

With a really small gun like a sub compact baby Glock, which was what I had then, snaps would let the whole holster rotate on the belt and rotate the holster, gun etc right out of my waist band to end up hanging upside down due to the rig being so short with a lot of every day movements. Never had the problem with clips. YMMV

The leather snaps are ok but I like the clips a lot better. I've had the snaps come undone on me also plus they stick out from the belt a bit more therefore they add to showing under a shirt.

If you go with snaps make sure you get pull the dot snaps. They only release in one direction. I built myself a leather loop set for my hybrid IWB holster and have not gone back to clips. Clips are rough on leather furniture and car seats too. I've got a snap on OWB rig that loops around my belt. I've worn it about a year now and it's only come unsnapped a time or two. It's got 2 line 24 snaps on each loop. If I build another one it will have pull the dot snaps.
