    Rattlesnake Skin Holster

Recently finished this rattlesnake skin holster for my XD.
Friend of mine sent me a couple snakeskins he harvested and I told him I'd make him a holster with some of it.
Had to make one for myself first to make sure I knew what I'm doing. I'm satisfied that I do, so need to get started on his. The second one always turns out nicer anyway.

This one ended up with a little more of the belly skin (lighter color) than I wanted, but it dresses up the XD a bit.

That does indeed look nice. Question: is the snake skin affixed to some backing material or is it thick enough to use alone?

Would you suggest using a Pygmy rattlesnake skin for a CC Mouse gun holster? LOL

Beautiful job on the holster. . I love the rattlesnake skin holster and mag pouch I had custom made a few years ago. It compliments my G27, perfectly.

The snakeskin is pretty thin and wouldn't hold up to normal holster use.
I glued the skin to the normal leather I use for holsters and sewed a thinner leather over the top. Kind of a snakeskin sandwich.

I really like the looks of that snake. I think the belly gives great contrast.

Nice work. I enjoyed leather work when I was a kid. I have no idea why I stopped doing it.
