    CCW Jacket/Coat

    Hi guys,

I was told that there are special garments (jackets & coats) that have a built in space specifically designed to holster a handgun. Can anyone please send some info my way? Thanks!

I have the SigTac jacket in a Medium (I normally wear large) and it is plenty big, so heed their caution about ordering a size down from what you normally wear.

Great jacket, plenty warm with hidden interior pockets that will fit most any handgun.

Sig, 5.11 and many other makers design cothing with hidden pockets . I personally don't find the pockets useful, but you may. Usually the clothing requires a nylon hoster that is velcro'ed in the pocket.

I also own the sigtac jacket and although it does allow you to carry your pistol concealed without a belt holster, don't expect to be able to draw the weapon very quickly. The pokets are velcro'd well and accessability is limited. It is a good concept and works for those days where you can't wear a holster but you will feel like superman tearing his clothes off to get to your pistol when you need it.

    For Reasons Surrounding...

A quick presentation, I only use a vest for cool weather cover. Don't put much into the pockets...just want to cover the weapon.

I have a 5.11 denim jacket, works great to hold my spare mags, flashlight, and spray, but I wear an OWB holster for my weapon. If I carry my glock 30 in the velcro holster it sticks out too much in front and is not useful to me. Maybe if I had a Keltec 9 or 380 or other similar weapon it would work ok.

I have a leather vest from Coronado Leather. It is an exceptionally high quality piece of work and is an excellent platform for concealed carry. Coronado makes jackets too. While their work is of high quality their prices are quite high too. But a high price goes whith high quality. FYI http://coronadoleather.com/

    +1 on Coronado Leather

I have a couple of Coronado Leather items and their products are well made. Here is a shot from their website of one of their leather jackets with hidden gun pockets:

Just according what your normal dress is.. Being retired and this time of year, I'm normally in jeans. I have a jean jacket I bought at Wally World that in its making has 2 perfect pockets on the inside. My weapon goes in one side, mags in the other.

    Coronado

Like others above, I have a Coronado bison-hide vest. It has inner pockets lined with a very rugged material and with a velcro'ed holster in each side to hold the firearm at your choice of positions. It makes a dressy vest, but is pricey. They also make a blue denim jacket with the same pocket features. An advantage of these items is that they can be removed in a warm store and not have to deal with a belt or shoulder holster and gun.

    Either can easily handle a 5" 1911.

Thanks so much for the info guys, I was in fact looking for a Coronado Leather jacket, I just couldn't remember the name. I think this system will do well for me, a motorcycle rider. It's uncomfortable to ride with heat on your belt. Again, thanks for the information guys!
