Saddle Soap I used that on duty rigs, shoulder holster, all leather including my leather jacket works great.

If it is a hybrid, I would wear it for a couple weeks and let it break in. If you have done that, I'd start with saddle soap and then move to Mink Oil.

The oil from your own skin may be enough conditioning. However, I use a little Ballistol now and then; just don't over apply anything.

Personally I would just give it time and let it break in naturally. All the custom leather makers I know of and have done business with recommend against the use of anything, especially oils, on their pieces. The last thing you want to do is soften up good stiff leather- let it break in by wearing it regularly.

Thanks for the advice. I was hell bent on applying something. Don't know why? It's comfortable! Just wanting to take care of! I'm gonna wait. Thanks again.

I wear a crossbreed horsehide every day and haven't put anything on it. In fact I wouldn't want to either. Feels perfect and has contoured to my body perfectly. Don't see it breaking down since it is constantly soaking up natural oils from your body.

I just ordered a horsehide hybrid holster and was wondering the same thing. Thanks for the discussion. I believe I will leave mine untreated as well.
