kydex paddle holster work in progress...

I recently started working with kydex to make holsters and was searching for custom kydex paddle holsters. I didn't find any that I really liked so I started this design...

I modeled it kinda like this one

Still have to make the actual holster but it'll bolt right on when I'm done anyway. BTW it's for a Colt commander 1911.

I like it. How will it be attached to the holster?

Thanks! Yeah. Going to make a blade tech-like holster that attaches to it next.

Not to discourage you, I think you did a very nice mold on the paddle, but Kydex doesn't work well for that application. Flexing the paddle putting it on and taking it off of the belt over time will crack the Kydex at the bend. If you check out some of the Kydex/holster suppliers you can purchase injection molded paddles and attachment points that will allow flex without breaking.

Great point. I have a bunch of .093 kydex and wanted to make good use of it instead of spending for the injection molded type. :)

Here's the finished holster. I really like the retention and it's super comfortable.

Looks ingenious. I like the way you made the tie down to the belt.

Thanks! I think I'll be making a bunch of these. They feel super comfortable.
