Lesson learned: Don't Knock it till you Try it.
Since I first learned to shoot I knew I wanted to have my CHP. I thought for sure because of my weight I would never have a IWB holster! Oh man the gun would jab me, or kill my hip bone or something worse. So my first carry rig was a Don Hume Agent OWB holster with thumbreak for my XD 45. It was nice but was not the most comfortable rig in the world. I figured I would just get used to it. But for some reason I just really diddnt. Sitting in cars, trucks hell even bar stools caused it to jab me in the side or become very uncomfortable.
Then when I got the new Millenium Pro I was looking for holster options. Member Kelsey was nice enough to offer me a leather IWB holster for my new gun. I gladley accepted the offer, thinking that i would take it and if i diddnt like it (which i anticipated i wouldnt) then i could pass it on to another member free of charge to "pay it forward". When the holster arrived I thought for sure it was too small for this "pro" gun. But it did fit, very tightley!
So I figured what the hell. Ill give it a try! And what do ya know! I love it! the gun\holster combination really work perfectly. The gun doesnt ride high at all and really stays tucked under one of my fat rolls! I can sit in chairs and in trucks, cars and on couches without feeling hurt or uncomfortable. The gun stays secure on the hip and when i draw it feels better not having to pull my shirt up so high to get to the grip.
Im offically converted. I will carry OWB for open carry but i think for CCW i am a IWB fan for life now. Here is a picture.
Thanks for reading! And if your an OWB lover thats cool! but if you have never tried the IWB holsters, give them a try even if you have to return the holster atleast you made an attempt.
