Last year I waited about 3 months for my presentation grade for my Kimber Pro CDP and it was worth the wait! It is an extremely comfortable and highly concealable holster. Here in the next few weeks I will be contacting Gary again regarding a Max Con V for my J-frame S&W 642. Oh, and maybe some of those T-bones!

I think Gary does the best he can, insisting on quality over quantity. I ordered mine in December and it took longer to get than I figured. But I just ordered it and tried to forget so the wait wasn't that bad. (Of course, also having one of K&D's fine holsters for the same gun made the wait much easier!)
From what Gary said earlier about hide prices I'm glad I got mine when I did though.

I ordered my MaxCon VI late in January, knew the wait was going to be hard on me (I'm like a kid at Christmas) but the quality of the product was worth the wait, for me. Gary, just keep on keepin' on!
When it gets here, it's like an unexpected gift. I can carry with a lesser product until it arrives.

I forgot when I ordered mine but it was since the first of the year. I have been trying to forget all about it but I still find myself looking in the mail everyday for a holster size package.

Are any other holster makers experiancing leather problems with their hide orders as well? This sounds like it would affect all of them out there and I have not heard another maker talk about having leather problems. Maybe the *style* of holster is the difference in what constitutes the use of good leather for one and it doesn't affect them as much or at all, like the Max-Con V or even a Def-Con only using the leather/molding to support itself and not with the use of steel bands at the mouth it would be obvious that the leather would need to be excellent for the holster to perform well, which they do very well.
For the record, I can't stand a holster with a steel band at the top like say a VM-II. For me that is the worst IWB holster I have ever tried, where as others seem to love them. That is why I love Gary's products, they are very well crafted, the boning is superb for retention, they are thin, not bulky or don't bulge out and with my 1911's they are so slim together they dissapear on my hip. But if I put on a VM-II (and I'm not picking on that holster just using it as an observation because it uses the steel band) it buldges out like I have a growth coming out of the side of my hip or something.

I have talked to a couple of other makers who have had similar problems, but I seem to have gotten the worst of it. You are correct in that by their nature, the Max-Con V and Def-Con do require really primo leather in order to look good and remain a holster, rather than getting soft and turning into a "leather bag". Without any steel in them, the leather must be really dense. Their construction also does not tolerate fluctuations in leather thickness/density as well as other designs. In short, while they work really, really well, they are a royal pain to make. Thanks for the input!

Ditto here, ordered around the 4th of July 2006 and still waiting (patiently). With the leather problem fixed for now, I just know it won't be much longer...

I too order last July, but we have two choices the way I look at it we can wait or cancel our order. From what I hear Gary saying he will give a refund. Then we can go order from some other place and wait their waiting period. I for one will wait for my Max Con, I even called this week and changed my order. I am now getting his new mag pouch and was told that would delay my order but it will be worth it when I do get it.
The delay has been for the good because I like the new "Mini Con" (my name for the new mag pouch) a whole lot better.

I'm doin' the best that I can, guys. We've shipped more holsters in the past two weeks than in the previous 3 months. We finally have decent leather and I am averaging 75 hour work weeks. I cannot do anymore than that.
Of course I'll refund anyone's money who wants me to (so long as I haven't started on your order when you contact me) - I'm not a thief. However, at the rate we're shipping product, we will be caught up very soon. Thanks for hangin' in there, guys.

75 hours a week is a "Little" much for you old guys :-)!! Don't go and get yourself rundown and sick....
Take care.
