anyone use the Dakota/Cochise Defender?

Hi all,

I currently use a Sidearmor IWB to carry my Glock 19, which I like, but I am looking for a new IWB holster that is more comfortable and conceals a bit better.

I'm considering the new Dakota Defender. It looks to be very adjustable, more comfortable, and very high quality. If anyone uses this (or the Cochise) holster, could you please post your comments?

Does the suede lining aid in comfort? How does the suede lining feel during the hot summer when you perspire? Are the Kydex clip screws secure and stay tight after you adjust them the way you want?

K&D Holsters' product, you mean?

I've got the Laredo Defender, the OWB variant. The Cochise Defender is the IWB variant. The Laredo is finely-boned and fits okay. It's a tad loose with a squeak that hasn't worked its way out, yet. But it rides high and tight. Well made. I use it every day for carry of a CZ P01 9mm. No Kydex clips on this one; instead, it's leather loops around the belt, which hold just fine. The screws benefit from a daub of LocTite, as with any such holster's accessory pieces.

I have a Cochise Defender that I have been wearing every day for the past 5+ months. The workmanship is great. I wear it at least 10 hours everyday and there are times when you truly forget it is on. I have used some expensive non-custom holsters and some cheap non-custom holsters and they are not in the same ballpark with a good custom holster. The Cochise Defender and other holsters from K&D are great custom holsters. I have three K&D holsters and each gets some wear almost every day. After 5+ months on two of them and 9+ months on the other they still look like new and wear great.

As soon as I can put the $$ together, I am ordering the Cochise Defender from Kevin. I have one holster from him already that I love and I feel very confident that the Cochise Defender will be the second. It looks like a great holster.

I've got a Laredo, very well made.

I've got a Cochise Defender - it's really nice. It doesn't have the suede, but it's extremely comfortable. I don't wear it often only because I don't carry the gun it's for very much. The clips on mine would work themselves loose, but I just put a couple of star washers on it and that took care of it.

Top notch holsters, you'll be very happy with a KD holster.

The Dakota Defender is a relatively new holster and has not had the "mid-summer" test yet.

The Dakota Defender is thinner overall in comparison to the Cochise Defender. The thinner profile aids in its ability to mold sooner to the shape/area you carry it. The Cochise Defender is a bit more versatile than the Dakota Defender.

Kevin is a great guy and will stand behind his work.I ordered a dakota and it just didn't work out for me,but it was a great looking holster,I just can't wear an IWB.but he took it back and offered to make another choice for me,he wants his customers to be happy and he will work with you. sj

Well guys I am new to posting on this forum. I just heard from K-Man and he informed me that my matching Dakota Defender and my Laredo Defender for my Glock 23 are in the mail. I will post pictures of my shark trim beauties and report on how they wear. Since my gun is like my American Express card" I don't leave home without it."

Welcome kookbreeze... K-man just shipped my Laredo Defender with Anaconda trim. I will be posting my pictures and review of this holster after I've had some time to break her in and carry.

I will also post some pictures early to show off K-man's work.
