I experienced a faux pas today.
While attending an FBI Leadership Course at the Luxor here in Las Vegas, I was wearing my Andrews Monarch Shoulder Rig (pic below) when, for no explicible reason, my full size custom 1911 suddenly left the horizonal holster and hit the floor. (In cocked and locked condition).
2 FBI agents and a LVMPD officer looked at me and said, "I think you dropped something." I responded with, "you think?".
I was to say the least embarrassed. In 30 years of carrying I have never had this happen before.
I think that my leather flight jacket caught the thumb break and released the snap allowing the gun to fall. I will be in touch with Sam Andrews in the AM to discover what can be done to remedy this.
Needless to say the shoulder rig has hit the closet until I resolve this and I will go back to my standard strong side OWB carry.
I just thought I would mention this to all who carry horizontal shoulder rigs as something to be on the watch for so it doesn't happen to you.
