Just wondering what brands is everyone using and are you happy with them? Starting to look to carry a S&W 642.
Thanks.

Only thing I ever ankle carry is a Kel-Tec P-32, it's about the only thing I think I can conceal without bell-bottoms, not to mention light enough that it doesn't bounce around.
When I was a city officer I carried a Model 36 on my ankle every night I worked in a Renegade ankle rig. That gun (which was seriously customized by the folks at Nowlin) and the ankle rig are still going strong after about 14 years. I still occasionally strap on that setup when I'm riding my Harley. The rig is very comfortable and secure and never gave me any problems.

Over the years i have carryed that way off and on . Currently if i am its a Kahr pm9. Ill say its not my choice of how to carry my primary weapon unless activity's dictate it . IMHO its about on par with pocket carry for convienance and access .

a true gentleman on another site sent me an eagle upside down carry ankle holster to try. it is very comfortable and after trying it for a couple of weeks the upside down part of it seems real natural. you don't have to hike your pants up all that far to get at it. this is for a S&W 37-2.
If I don't carry my 442 in my pocket it's on my ankle.
I use a Galco "Ankle Glove" when I have to ankle carry. It seems to work real good for me. In fact, I've had the same holster for over ten years with no problems.

I used a cozy partner renegade ankle holster. My gun (A 442), never came out unless I drew it. It has an elastic strap that fits around the rear of the trigger guard. You just pull to draw. Quick & easy.

Never thought they were comfortable. Besides the fact I'm almost always in shorts, it just wouldn't seem an easy 'grab' in jeans...when I do wear them...I want an instant grip while still being able to walk!
I guess...like anything else (SOB for instance...I like it!), it is what ever you get used to and how one can make it 'work'.

I use a Ken Null ankle holster for my Colt Mustang Pocketlite. Ken sent it to me two weeks after I ordered it. Quality is superb, as is comfort. It is completely secure without a retention strap.

I could never get used to one.

I think I would be OK wearing two though ~ one on each leg.
I bought it in '95, still going strong.

I wear my 642 in a Desantis ankle rig every so often. It's definitely not my first holster choice for carrying a primary weapon but it has it's place. Makes for easy BUG carry and it's easier to draw from than a pocket holster if you're seated. When I carry the 642 as a primary it's usually either IWB or in a pocket holster.
Overall, the 642 is a great gun to own and I highly recommend it. It's easy to carry in a variety of ways, easily concealed, lightweight, simple manual of arms and the .38spl +P can be had in a wide variety of loadings - I like the Speer 135gr. +P Gold Dot as it was specifically designed for the snubbies, others are good too though.

I used to carry my 642 in an Uncle Mike's ankle holster. It was less than a pound and a half, loaded. Comfortable, and no problems.
