New belt and holster from The Belt Man

I walked up to my door yesterday after work and to my surprise there is a box from The Belt Man. I promptly popped it open and headed into the house.

Three weeks ago I called and had a discussion with Jim (The Belt Man) about a new belt for me. I had actually placed an order online and he called to sort out some details. I was actually being indecisive about the color and ended up changing my order twice while we were on the phone. From brown with a brass buckle to black with a silver buckle and back again.

Jim was very patient with me. He knows what is involved in making the right purchase and is more than willing to help you get it right.

So I decided on the brown belt with the brass buckle and happened to mention that I was going to purchase a holster for my 642 to match the belt. Jim mentioned that he started making holsters years ago and then transitioned to belts. He also mentioned that he had a pancake design for a small S&W revolver. Jim sent me pics of the holster and I ordered one to match my belt.

I have to say that Jim does excellent work. The craftsmanship on the belt is exceptional. Now this is the first high end belt I have owned and let me tell you, there is a huge difference. I had a 1 1/4'' belt before, but it was warped and soft. I had no idea what a difference a quality belt could make.

I wore it for the first time today and there was a huge difference. The first thing I noticed is that my shirttail was not coming untucked. I went all day and never had to tuck back in.

I got home today and added the holster with my 642 and went back out. We hit the ball park and played some softball and did some other running as well. I forgot it was there. The support that the belt and holster provide is excellent. I could not be happier.

I don't know if Jim is officially in the holster business or not. You will have to ask him and see what is what.

Ok, so here are some pics.

Great looking belt and holster. If I didn't live less than 3 miles from a custom maker, The Beltman would be on my short list if makers to buy from.

Your belt looks like one of mine. I got it from Wild Bills several years ago. Someone told me that Jim was the guy who made the belts for Wild Bills back then before starting Beltman.

If this is true, I have no doubt that you will continue to love your belt for many years to come.

I have two (a black one and a brown one) and wear them daily. Still as sturdy as the day I bought them.

When you go into a high end belt like this, the price is VERY reasonable since they will last many many times longer than a lesser belt.

    Congratulations and enjoy.

I like the holster and belt - but that last picture was a little much for my tastes!

HAHA Yea, I know what you mean. No one really wants to post pics like that and I almost didn't. I figured I midas well show it while wearing it too.

At least I had pants on.

I checked out that site earlier. Didn't see anything about holsters so I wasn't sure. Am I missing something or do you have to contact him for other stuff?

I met Jim at the gun show in NC. Took me a minute to realize this was the guy the web raves over! Really nice guy.

Ordered my belt right then and there.

No there is nothing on his site about the holsters. He was playing around with the idea about getting started again. I don't know what he has to offer.

I would call and ask him what he has available. Just mention the holster he made for the 642. I'm sure he will remember.

I will shoot him an email. Maybe he can clarify what his intentions are toward holster making.
