    Holster Advice please

I'm waiting to receive my CWP, and need to get a CC holster. I am 5'10" and a solid 245#. I'll be carrying a Springfield XD 45 Compact (4" bbl, 10rd).

I am accustomed to belt holsters, but don't have a problem going with an IWB if need be.

Just wanted to get some feedback from you folks.

    Thanks in advance

Pretty much the only way I carry is IWB. I find its the all around easiest to conceal. I sometimes go OWB in the winter.
You'll find that most of the really good holster makers are waaay behind. I've had holsters on order for 10-12 weeks. I ordered one from Fist the other day, its suppose to be 4-5 weeks.

I prefer IWB. The XD store has a nice one with double loops. This is a journey only you can take. You might go through a couple before you marry the right one.

I also like IWB and use a Milt Sparks VersaMax-II for all my CCW's!

I have ordered two holsters for my XD45C from K&D Holsters. http://www.kdholsters.com/basefile/h...cessories.html
I ordered a Dakota Defender (IWB) and an Eagle Defender (OWB) I have a couple of holsters from Kevin and he makes a great product.

I carry my 1911's (3", 4.5" and 5") in Gary Brommeland www.brommelandgunleather.com Max Con V's. I can carry all day perfectly comfortably and secure with great access. IMHO that's the best holster on the market.

Another Brommeland fan here. 5" 1911 in a MaxCon V & I'll soon be trying out a Glock G19 in his Def Con OWB - I expect that'll be my new primary carry rig when the Glock gets paid off ... then I'll order a MaxCon V for it as well.

All good choices. I'm partial to K&D IWB Defenders due to their cant adjustability.

I love my AKJ IWB, picked it up about 6 months ago, and I can carry my full size Glock 21 all day in comfort. Nice price to as well.

LOTS and LOTS of choices. Scan the mega list and check out the many different makers and their designs. I too found IWB to be the easiest to carry concealed for my several carry guns. I don't have to worry about the holster poking out below my belt under my cover garment and it rides tight against the body, to help limit any printing. Being in FL, minimal clothing is the order of the day most times. I carry a Keltec P3AT in a pocket holster, that is my everywhere gun. Selecting a holster is a very personal matter, as it has to be comfortable when worn by YOU. What fits Tom and Dick, may not fit Harry. I would recommend a design with a slide shield for a semi auto pistol, and the loops, clips or slots on each side of the gun, rather than over the top of it. I like the holster to have some forward cant and carry gun up high. But again, everyone has their own preferences. Expect to wait a while for a custom holster and speak with the maker before ordering, if you have questions or concerns. Most will be happy to discuss their products and guide you in making a choice. Also be sure to get yourself a quality belt designed to carry a gun. A proper belt will make a big difference in how well the gun and holster ride on your hip. Be sure the belt size and loops, slots or clip are the same size. Happy hunting.
