My carry gun: a 9mm Mauser Broomhandle

Some may think me daft, but when I don't need deep concealment I have taken to carrying my 20 round Mauser Broomhandle (reworked by Briklee to semi-auto from the full-auto Schnellfeuer Mauser C96).

With my spare mag, that makes for 40 rounds of 9mm goodness.

A fun gun, surprisingly easy to carry (in Winter), and quite distinctive. (I've always wanted to CCW a Broom ever since I saw Tom Adams in "The Second Best Secret Agent in the Whole Wide World" [a great movie, BTW, and it pretty much stars the Broomhandle! ]).

Thinking about moving to the comfort of having 52 rounds on hand for the winter....I think the G17 might be passing concealed muster with the same holsters I used all summer with the G27

When it's just the T shirt i don't have a lot of room to move without printing in this particular setup, but most winter there's a hoodie or light jacket on me that'll hide that grip just fine.

And I think whitebox may be responsible for me going out and picking up another 5.11 operator belt.

Question: How do you all keep your pants from coming down with all of the gear attached to your belt? I am constantly pulling my pants up and it's really annoying sometimes. ;)

    Dudester,

I don't have an issue with pants falling down, but I do with wear and tear and pain on the skin around my belt line, what with carrying a Government 1911 and two spare mags, so I have found three ways to fix this issue:

    1. One is with a very specific type of suspender, a type that has very little elastic (great, but I wish they made them less wide and less heavy-duty): Two inch wide Construction Original SC200-R-BLK (13202) $ 13.95, Perry Suspenders-48" & 54".

Perry Construction Original suspenders (Not me in pic):

    2. The other is with a Sam Browne type of setup, which I made myself.

A Sam Browne belt (not mine):

    3. The other I have very high hopes for, and are called Concealed Carry Suspenders, available at Concealed Carry Suspenders - No more sagging pants! for, believe it or not, $3.88 with free shipping. (I have not yet received these suspenders, but they are due to arrive in a few days).

Picture from Web site (not me in pic):

Different body-types can also make a difference, here.

People who "don't have a butt," like my father-in-law and my brother-in-law? They either need suspenders (my father-in-law, who is somewhat overweight) or have to be built/shaped so that they have a waist that's narrower than their hips (my brother-in-law is a fitness fanatic, and that allows him to cinch his pants tight, with a belt around his waist).

Despite the fact that I am overweight and have a rather pronounced "beer belly," I don't have a problem with my pants or gear falling....that's because I have a rather pronounced rear-end. For me, for example, I actually do much better wearing my "compact" carry pistol on my strong side and balancing it out with a full-sized spare magazine on the off-side: this forces the beltline into symmetry, and allows it to sit on my hip and rear, instead of allowing it to displace "over and around" one hip during normal daily tasks.

Look at your body-shape and specific concerns, and then go from there.

My sccy is the CPX-1 Generation 2. Been a perfect gun. Never had any jams or malfunctions. At 500 round mark now. Heck of a value for the money (Under $250 if you shop around.) Grip and trigger pull is better than KelTec.

If your not using an actual gun belt, get one. If you are, you need a better one.

    ^ Or, he needs suspenders.

Some people just do not have the body-build for the belt to support much of anything - pants included.
