Which would you choose for OWB? Fist or Comp-Tac?

I like OWB. Yeah, I know - you hate OWB. But I'm a big guy with no waist, so it needs to be OWB, belly or shoulder. Belly and shoulder rigs have already been obtained. I like Kydex OWB because its fast, inexpensive and easy to acquire.

My carry guns are primarily CZ's. A 75B and a P-01. My Bersa is small enough that it doesn't present as many carry problems for me.

I'm looking at the FIST K1, with the inside/outside belt loops.
    http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/k1/k1A.htm

And I'm also looking at the Comp-Tac Belt Holster.
    http://www.comp-tac.com/catalog/prod...products_id=66

They both cost about the same. So which would you choose?
The FIST Kydex is thin - Is it durable?
    Is the Comp-Tac comfortable?
Is there another carry option that I'm overlooking?

    Thanks - Gary

Between the two I would no doubt go with the Comp-Tac. They make some quality gear even if it is plastic. I have a few things from them such as a couple holsters and a mag pouch and I was impressed each time one came in the mail. I have no experiance with the Fist but from the look's of it the quality I see in the Comp-Tac is just not there in the Fist design.

And yes, there are many options for holsters out there, many, many, choices.

Check out the Forum Help & Extras above to find the mega holster maker sites. You could spend hours upon hours looking at holsters. You are on the right track with the Comp-Tac though.

    Ti,

I just got an e-mail from a distributor. It seems I had forgotten I ordered some leather a while back. I'm getting a half-pancake leather from Frontline. I'll post some snaps when it gets here next week.

My J frame sometimes rides in a Serpa. I swear by mine.

    Concerning carry at the waist.
I always believed that a person should carry OWB as a first choice and IWB as a second choice only if OWB is just not possible for some valid reason.

I have several of Comp-Tac's FBI Paddles and I really like them.

Having recently acquired a Fist holster, unless they are thicker & sturdier for OWB, I'd go with the Comp-Tac.

If I was to carry it IWB, though, I'd definitely go with the Fist, because of its thinness.

I wasn't impressed so much with the looks of the Fist, but it thinness & comfort for IWB was incredible. Definitely better than the Comp-Tac IWB I've tried.

    Thumbs up ComTac

I'd say ComTac only because I like their IWB stuff. Had a Blade-Tech that didn't fit right (they fixed it quick) liked their molding better.

The FIST is flimsy and the straps have NO snaps, you gotta buy extra straps

Serpa is a nice rig, but unless I can adapt an existing rig for my CZ, I haven't found one yet for the CZ pistol line.

Fist has two different Kydex styles: "Regular" and "Ultra Thin."

I think most of their IWB rigs are made from the Ultra Thin material (but you could have it made with the "regular" stuff if you ask.) The same is true with OWB...."regular" as the default, but "ultra thin" if you talk to them.

    Just FYI.

    I'd vote Comp-Tac, just b/c I like mine.
