    Attachment preference for leather holsters?

For those of you that prefer leather holsters (oh yeah, you're out there), do you prefer the traditional leather loop attachments to attach to your belt, or the kydex clips, and why?

I'm getting ready to order a leather holster (I've carried a Kydex holster for over a year) and both attachment options seem to have advantages so I thought I'd ask everyone's opinion. Thanks!

I just can't bring myself to trust clips. It seems like everything I have ever tried with them wasn't secure enough.

I am an OWB man and so it's loops all the way.

I prefer loops; although, I do have holsters that have clips, and I do use them. When using a clip, I prefer a "J" clip that hooks positively around the belt. That being said, I still prefer loops--they are more secure, IMO, and much less likely to "come along" when you draw the firearm. YMMV.

Loops are more secure , but not as easy on and off , Plastic clips are ok untill they break and easy on and off , Metal clips are ok untill they spring out and easy on and off .. In short there is no simple this is best answer ... If you dont have to take your gun off multiple times thro the day get loops , if you do take your pick of metal or plastic , clip or j hook .

Personally, I don't care for kydex clips, because they might break, but also seems to scratch the heck out of my belt.

Metal clips are fine, if they're the right ones, with the lip on the bottom. I've had IWB holsters with horrible clips, but there are some good ones. I don't know if they still use the same clip, but the one on my Desantis is great, so are the ones on UBG holsters.

I prefer snaps on my loops, but they are nice. They don't scratch anything & look good, IMHO.

I've seen fiberglass reinforced nylon, kydex and steel clips all fail. I do not trust any of them, and I am no longer willing to use any of them in the production of a holster for any reason.

Needless to say, I'm a "loops" kinda guy

Gary , that is because you are a " perfection" kinda guy on the things you build . Your name is on it and were mine , likely i would feel the same .. All attachment systems can and will fail , to me i guess its kinda like selection of a ccw gun , a series of balances to achive a product that will actualy work for you every day .. for some its clips , for others its loops . I wont gainsay a choice other than you note i did not post a failure issue on loops , just an inconvience .
