    My new simply rugged holster

I looked long and hard for a holster to carry my S&W K19 38/357.
I wanted it for when I took the dogs into the woods in the north country. I found this Texas Pancake on the Simply Rugger Site--They are located in Alaska. As I expected, when I talked to the owner Rob Lacey, I was talking to a REAL MAN. We decided on what he thought was best. He said it will be about 3 months and $90.00 shipped.
I sent him a check and 21/2 months later it arrived US Mail.
It's cross draw (bad shoulder) rides great on my wilderness belt and believe it or not conceales well under a light vest or jacket. If one needs a field holster you can not go wrong with Rob.

Looks good. How come the retention strap is so long?

I don't have a clue.-- Rob, the maker, really did not think I needed one so he made it removeable. If after some use I feel it should be shorter I'll trim it. If I dont like it I will remove it, one screw does the job. It really is quite handy to get a hold of and release the gun for drawing. Keep in mind this is a cross draw so my left hand pulls it up and right hand draws the gun. Some day I will ask Rob -- I am sure he has a perfect answer.

Bud, Rob is a great man to deal with. It is obvious he knows what he is doing when it comes to in the field carry, and his site has a good variety of holsters and carry methods. Can not hurt to give him a call.

I've got one of his butt cuffs for a Marlin 1894 lever rifle, and a Sourdough holster for a large revolver. Strongly built stuff. Made to last.

    Long Retention strap

First thank you folks for the kind words.
I am blessed in getting to dowhat I love for a living.
Second Why the long strap; it allows for a real quick release one chops up with the hand and it pops off the snap, Elmer Keith liked em that way and one can always cut them down to personal taste.

Elmer Keith designed the long strap for getting at in a real hurry. Rob talks about that on his sight

Just preaching to the choir about the excellence of holster's by Simply Rugged. Just got this one a few weeks ago for my 5-1/2" Ruger Redhawk. It is just terrific for field carry. I sure do recommend Rob's work without reservation.
