More revolver madness! OWB for the S&W 686?
I've been researching OWB holsters for the 686 I just picked up last week. I have a list of 6 holster makers I was looking at that I found on the MEGA HOLSTER list at the top of this page.
Here's the list of the holster makers I have seen that make something to fit the 686...
Bullman
El Paso Saddlery
Haugen Leather
Kirkpatrick Leather
Milt Sparks
Have any of you used or have a friend that has used a holter for a wheelgun from any of these holster makers? I already have a Beltman belt and a Desantis holster for my XD. The belt should work just fine for the added weight of the holster and the 686 so I'm good to go there.
Any opinions on any of these holster makers? I bought a Milt Sparks Summer Special II for my wife's MK9 and it's a great holster so I wouldn't mind going with them again. The killer is the lead time which is about 5-6 months right now. Not to say I wouldn't buy 2 holsters either... :)

I can't comment on the makers but - it does occur to me that you should consider a barrel length limit. You don't mention size of yours but IMO 4" in OWB is about max. I can carry my M28-2 OWB OK even tho the rig is for a 3".
3" is perhaps the best length. If you are out to 6" then concealment would be way more difficult - if tho just general carry when hiking that wouldn't matter of course - maybe that is your plan.
I cannot quote an example but I seem to recall in SportsmanGuide not so long ago - some rigs that could suit for revo - just forget details. Might be worth some checking on the web perhaps.

Thnkas Chris. I forgot to mention that the barrle length on my 686 is a quite concealable 2.5". The weight isnt bad at all as long as I can find a decent holster for it.

I would say that you can't really go too very wrong with any of the holster makers that you have named in your post.
They are all good makers.
Pick the one that has a rig that you think will best suit your particular needs.
If you need a holster right away then choose one of those makers that has your desired holster in stock.

I use a Milt Sparks PMK for my 3.5" S&W 27 and I love it. My friend has one for his 2.5" 686 and he's very happy with it too. The PMK is very similar in construction to the 55BN but it's made to ride lower on the hip, which makes it easier to use for us short torso, short arm guys.
If you're tall or normal sized, I'm sure Sparks could make one of their other holsters for your gun.
