Need help on finding a custom revolver holster

I'm looking for a carry holster for 2 Colt revolvers. The first is a 4 inch Colt Trooper Mark III. The 2nd is for a LNIB 2 inch Colt Lawman, if I can persuade my father to give or sell it to me. I'd prefer an OWB but will consider IWB. I've gone through about 1/2 the list of holster makers that is on the sticky and not been able to find anyone yet who is able to make one for these model Colts.

    Any suggestions?

    TIA

    Chuck

Start looking though the old holster bins at the gun shops and gun shows. There was a lot of great holsters made for these two classics. You can sometimes find some nice stuff in those boxes of used leather holsters.

Galco lists several for a 4" Trooper, but doesn't list the Lawman.

Simply Rugged makes a couple of very nice Pancake styles for larger revolvers and may be able to help. Several makers list the Python as one of their available revolvers and, in some cases, that may work for the Trooper. The barrel is smaller on the trooper, but the frame is the same Colt I (I think I remember that being correct). The Lawman is similar to the Colt Officer's Model (except in .357) and if a maker is listing the Officer's they might be able to adjust for the Lawman - there aren't too many listing the Officer's model, but you could try Simply Rugged, Bell Charter Oak or O'Rourke.

But before you go crazy with holsters, be sure you want to use these as carry pieces. If they have some special value to you or your father, you may want to carry something else - even if you buy another one of each to carry. Keep in mind that if you ever have to use one of these in a defensive situation, you are likely to loose them for a long time (long).

Roy, Hoppy and Wild Bill carried two.

I'd recommend finding the closest holster maker to you. You don't put your location, so I don't know who that would be...

We're spread across the country pretty good. My point...If you find a maker close enough, he can use your gun to make the holster. OR, you could make it yourself!!!

The Trooper Mark III and Lawman are both on Colt's J frame which is different from the Python and older Trooper I frame.

There is no sentimental value to either the Mark III or Lawman. I purchased the Mark III a year or so ago just because it's what I used to carry as a LEO many years ago. The Lawman is my father's. He bought it new, fired one cylinder full, then put it back in the box. I didn't even know he had it until about 6 months ago. I've been trying to get it from him since then. He just keeps saying I'll get it one day.

I've started thinking about trying to make my own. I'm also wondering if they will fit a holster for a Smith K or L frame. I've got a old Gould & Goodrich pancake for my 2 inch Model 10 and the Mark III will go in with a little force.

I'd love to have a holster from either Matt or Lou but the wait is ....
