    Question about SS in Plastic

    Hey Guys

Just wondering weather one should/could expect finish issues down the road carring a SS pistol in a Kydex holster or would your advise be to use a full leather holster. I am not refering to a little bit af charming normally expected holster wear, I know that cannot be avoided with a EDC def handgun.

I am currently intriged by the new hybrid M-TAC(?) and the turn around time seems to be the shortest around.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I vote full leather anyways - just because it always seems best.

But hey - re SS and finish, marring etc ... I really wouldn't worry about that in either method. I'd expect some brighter spots from contact with Kydex over time but my approach is anyways - the gun is for carry - it will (mine does) show some marking but it goes with the territory so to speak.

One thing - we can do a ''job'' on an SS finish if need be and bring it back to a pretty nice result if so inclined - way less problems than blued anyways!

The way I was told by a gun dealer who by the way loved leather he told me. He said "Leather is used to sharpen old time razers. Plastic is not." All of my guns have been carried in plastic holsters for years and no wear so far. Including a SS Ruger I have.

    Correction

Leather in combination with embedded abrasive razor stropping compound was used to hone razors not just plain leather.

All holsters will eventually cause every handgun to show some holster wear - at the firearm/holster contact points.

Industrial Hard Chrome is fairly impervious to ever showing any traces of holster wear.
