Question about pocket holster for J frame.

Hello- I'm new here and this is my first question. I am interested in a good method to carry an old S&W model 36. Mika seems to be a very popular pocket holster. I've have looked them over on his site and they look good. Does anyone have a comment on the 2 shapes available? Most pocket holsters seem to be the square type, but are there advantages/disadvantages to the rounded version? Thanks in advance-Scott.

Depends upon what kind of pants you wear in terms of the width of the bottom of the pocket. The square cut is usually better for cargo type pants and the round cut for others.

Kramer is by far the best

Kramer's pocket holster is the best for J-frames, hands down.
It's kind of speny but I've used them for years and swear by them!

Mika's Pocket Holster. Simple, easy and stays put! Comes in round and square bottoms (for cargos) BUY TWO!....and with the difference in price from the Kramer, you can still get lunch and a beer!

He makes a good pocket holster. It is some kind of synthetic material he uses and it is roughly shaped, but not molded to your gun. I have both a round bottom and a square bottom. Take a look at the bottom of your pants pockets ( the inner liner of the pocket ) and then you can see which shape will most closely mate with it. Some pants have rounded liners, others are more squared off. The rounded bottom holster will tend to slip a bit in a squared pocket, the squared holster won't fit very well in a rounded pocket. There are inexpensive enough to own both, if your pants have varied shapes.

Also look at the DeSantis Nemisis holster, it really sticks to the inside of the pocket so it stays put when you need to draw plus they are in the $20+ range. Excellent holster

Alot of people like the Desantis Nemesis. There are some other posts on the board right now that mention the new Super Fly from Desantis. It's basically a Nemesis with a cover panel and it looks very nice. Check their Web site.

I'll second Kramer. You can sometimes find them on e**y for a good price. Never tried a Mika, but I prefer good leather.

You want one that works for your normal pockets. If most are rounded then round and if most are square then square.

Thanks to all for the great suggestions. I will check out the Nemesis as well. I think for the price I may just get both types of the Mika.

I just took a look at your site and I am impressed. I may order something for my Kel-Tec P32 and my Kahr P9. Thanks!-Scott.
