CCW coming, holster isn't - need something to get by with
Hi,
I ordered a Garrity holster which I do not expect for another couple of months. I'll have my CCW in 2 weeks and I do not have a thing to put my 229 in. I'd like some input on something IWB, fairly cheap but comfortable enough to use for a couple of months, but most of all - I can get fast. I am seriously debating grabbing a VM2 thats available then reselling it once my Garrity gets here, but honestly do not want to go through that hassle.
Check out Cabela's website or a store if they have one near you. They carry some holsters on the shelf. You might try Natchez Shooters Supply on line, if I remember correctly they carry some holsters in stock too.
I purchased one for my Sig P239 as a grab-and-go holster -- something easy to put on, no fiddling.
But it turns out it's a pretty decent concealment holster and a very good holster in general. Good protection, fits very well, good retention, smooth draw, comfortable, very sturdy. Clip works well. Conceals well.

They are left in full possession of them."

I waited nine months on a "three to four months" time quote. I finally gave up and cancelled that order. Get the Milt Sparks, it's a good holster and if/when you get your Garrity you can sell the Sparks easily enough.
Check out Galco, Don Hume, Bianchi etc......all of them should have something you can use at a decent price with little wait time.
Also might be worth checking out your local gun shop (not talking bout the big name retailers) as most of em (around me at least) sell used leather and you never know what you'll find.
Of course if the price is right on the VMII snatch it up, you may find you really like it and either a) cancel the garrity order, b) keep it and the garrity, or c) like it better then the garrity and sell the garrity.
If I had to purchase a 'get by' holster, I'd go with 'department store leather' - Galco, Bianchi ... definitely avoid any holster which contains the words 'uncle' or 'mike'. Galco would probably have my vote.

Try HighNoon...they have several models that they stock - and they are a pretty good value. I have two that I got for the same reason as you...the long wait from a custom maker.
