Wrangler 13MWZ jeans with a Milt Sparks EC at about 4:00. Have been carrying this way for about four years (1911s of various sizes, right now a Defender). Didn't change pants waist size. Wear them right at the top of my hipbones. The only thing I found is that longer barrels like the Government will tend to stick you in the nerve running down along your hip, so I'd look for a holster that has extra leather there to spread that pressure out.
With 1911s anyway, the second most important is the holster and the most important is the belt. A wide heavy belt really makes a difference in comfort for me.
Thanks David. That's precisely what I was pondering. I wear a Gould and Goodrich belt with OWB, and like it for stiffness.
Thanks all who have responded. I am purusing IWB holsters now, and will go ahead with much more confidence. Y'all are great.
