    "Non-standard" SmartCarry

One person mentioned that he uses his SmartCarry holster positioned at 3:30. I thought that was a great idea and as soon as I get some time after Christmas shopping, I am going to experiment with that. But, I was wondering whether anyone else has any experience positioning the holster in a spot other than 12:00.

I prefer 11:30, just so the buttstock is at the zipperline.

My pistol in Smartcarry has the slide at 12:30 and grip end at 2.

That is a GREAT idea. I'm going to experiment with crossdraw, for days when I'm mostly driving in the car. I never would have thought of using SmartCarry for anything other than what it was designed for. Thanks, this is a terrific forum where we can share ideas like this.

Isn't the grip of the pistol WAY back from where you would want it? I'm going to put mine at 3:30 tomorrow to see. I have a RH smartcarry and putting it at the 3:30 position seems like it would really move the grip of the gun way back behind you.

I've had one for years, and unless it's inside a stretchy fabric like sweatpants, it's almost impossible to access the weapon. Try shoving your hand down your jeans with a belt on and successfully grab a weapon then draw. Just doesn't work. With stretchy shorts or pants, it'll beat being unarmed!

With practice I can draw fast and accurate everytime, under the belt buckle,...

Now if only I can get it to stop riding down and making my johnson go numb? Or like earlier today, sitting down in a HIGHLY public place, one of those "concealed is concealed" maybe shouldnt be carrying, and I get up,holster had ridden up under my tshirt, and my tshirt was up on my back sitting on the top part of the velcro exposing I was clearing wearing something realy strange (ORRRR MAKE IT STOP POKING MY GUT WHILE SITTING DOWN)

I think the Smart Carry serves a purpose for people who need to conceal that deep.
Many folks that are new to carrying a firearm tend to want to conceal their firearm deeper than they honestly need to.
The fact remains that the deeper you conceal your firearm the slower and more cumbersome it will be to gain critical access to your firearm.
So the Smart Carry is absolutely better than leaving the firearm at home but, if possible everybody should first explore other possible carry options.
And yes, I actually owned one once or I would not have bothered posting my comment.

One aspect of using the SmartCarry is, for the lack of a better word, depth? I wear mine high enough that drawing my weapon is actually pretty fast. (Getting it back in the SmartCarry is another thing!) The butt of my weapon could probably be seen looking straight down if I lost 20 or so pounds!

Also, your SmartCarry is a great thing to have for a non-CCW purpose when traveling etc. Like keeping you cash well hidden.

When you carry at 3:30 does it still sit down below your belt-line or do wear it higher? Maybe someone could post a pic or two because I can't picture how it would work.

I just can't imagine how 'zipper' carry (smart carry)...isn't that where it is?...could be comfortable...OMO...but seems awkward to me...
Perhaps I'm just too used to IWB at 3:30!
