I know it's a small gun and really easy to carry, but if ya want to be truely comfortable , get a good OWB holster and try it. I have an OWB from Fist. Most people dont carry a 642 OWB because it's so easy to carry other ways. But OWB has the feel of not carrying at all.
Your IWB looks alot like my Tucker Cover Up For J-frame.

I agree with you Kentuckycarry, I often throw my J frame in my pocket but I also carry OWB and the weight is hardly noticable on your waist. I do feel guilty sometimes thinking why bother carrying the J OWB when I could be carrying something bigger but I just love the little J frames

Del fatti.....ahhh I want one for mine! two year wait is crazy though.
Here is a few of a pocket/ IWB convertible holster I built for a buddy to carry his 642. I placed some rubberized grip tape on the holster to aid in pocket carry draw.

I currently carry my 642 with a Fobus paddle holster or an Uncle Mikes IMB holster.
However, I am looking at buying a tuckable holster for it. For those of you with expierance with it, would recomend a brand that you have liked. I have been looking at the Galco with the J-hooks, or seeing if a Cross Breed Super Tuck would work with the 642.

Weakside Pocket or ankle is how I carry my Airweight J-Frame. I like a little bigger gun as a "Primary".

I carry mine in a CTAC at about 3 o'clock. I would like to try carrying it OWB, I'm just not sure who to buy from.

I don't want to answer for orangehole since I don't know where he got his, but Gemini Customs, the outfit that specializes in custom Ruger revolver work, offers del Fatti holsters and speed strip carriers for the Rugers, and they claim they're going to have them for S&W J-frames too. The ones they have pictured on their For Sale page look just like orangehole's with the shark trim.

Can you pocket carry a 642 in regular blue jean pockets?
