Concealment holsters, open top or thumb-break?

What does anyone prefer for carry? Open top, or thumb-break holsters? Does the choice make a difference for 'cocked and locked' SAO carry with an exposed hammer? Elaborate please.

I like the added security of a thumb break. Not so much security from a gun grab as from my pistol getting knocked loose in some of the odd positions I occasionally find myself in.

I carry "cocked and locked" and would not want a thumb break - to me it would not add security, it would take it away by making the gun harder to draw when I need it. The gun is not going to fire while I'm carrying it - if it does, it will be an act of God, so I'll deserve it.

Open top only for CCW. A properly fitted holster has never let me down. If one sees a need for a thumb break to make them feel comfortable carrying a 1911 in condition 1, they must wear belts with their suspenders, and all other things redundant.

I am with QK on this. If I am out tromping in the woods I like the extra security of a thumb break.

Out of 30+ holsters only one of my early ones had the strap...never liked it...eventually took it off.
Would never have one again...not necessary for me...OMO

My Glock snaps in pretty well to its custom kydex holster. I can hold it upside down or what have you and it stays put. Yet it still pulls out nice and easy.

I couldn't vote on this one because I use thumb straps on my OWB holsters and open top on my IWB.

I slipped on ice this winter.. And despite my large pockets, everything that was in them fell out and spread all over the sidewalk. Keys, loose change, phone, pen.. Everything.

If I could carry, I'd have a thumb break during winter. (at least on icey days) I'm like Bambi, and the embarassment of a loud metallic CLUNK on the sidewalk is something I'd rather not experience.
