    Please forgive my ignorance here but I have a question about this DIY project. Does anyone have any tips on how to form the initial paper cut out? I can see that there is an ovoid section to wrap around the slide and trigger guard, but why the thumb extending past the trigger guard? Also, how much past the trigger guard should you cut?

    I think that it is far easier to form it with an over sized piece of kydex and cut out the shape you want after it is formed.
