For those of you who carry IWB with leather, do you normally carry a holster with the smooth side or rough side of the leather on the outside?
I recently got a rough side out (grips better) but am not sure if a smooth side out would be more comfortable. What do you think?
Rough side out would not retain the weapon as securely and would be ... well. "rough" on my spare tire!

well both actually, Tucker Gunleather makes their IWB's (unless ordered otherwise)with the inside panel rough side out and the out side panel rough side in.

Rough side out, helps with retaining the holster in position. Not worried about weapon retention while wearing, don't make a practice of standing on my head!!My IWB holsters all hold the gun secure even with them being rough out.

I have a McDaniel II, rough side out. I also have a K&D Defender, smooth side out. Both offer plenty of retention and stay put while wearing and both are very different designs. Much depends on the design of the holster. Holster makers usually have reasons for doing what they do with their designs!

Rough side out to the body, smooth side out to the belt. At first wearing rough side seemed to bother, but after a few days you dont even know it.

Smooth side out in a VM2. It stays put.

Smooth side out....much easier to slide into the pants..also, much easier to adjust if you need to shift it a bit...and if it's a quality rig (with the right belt), it's not going to move around anyway....
