    Shoulder Carry??

Anyone carry in a shoulder rig on a daily basis. I'm looking into one because my job almost limits me to this type of carry.I'm almost always laying down on creepers and hanging out under the dash of vehicles. My weapon is constantly hitting something and I don't like it, is a shoulder rig my only option? Thanks for the input

My guess is a shoulder rig would be even more difficult to manage! Have you considered pocket carry?

i wear a galco miami classic shoulder holster 95% of the time on duty and 25% off duty. they make tie downs that go from the rig to your belt. it keeps the rig in place, so it don't flop around. i don't use them, don't have to.

Ditto! Especially if you're upside down or laying on your back alot.

A separated shoulder has made me deformed, probably for life. But heck, I like battle scars.

I have a tanker holster (strap from right shoulder to left hip, across back and chest) that to me does not seem suitable for normal carry. I do use it for times when I might not be wearing pants. [oh boy] Otherwise, I'm thinking that a shoulder rig would be more of a hindrance than something on the belt.

While I can't bear the thought of it for myself, perhaps small of the back would be suitable for you at work. Laying on it would likely be uncomfortable, but I'm assuming that it would keep it out of the way.

Sounds to me like anything you choose for your line of work will have it's own issues. What gun are you carrying?

I'm leaning toward suggesting a holster shirt. 5.11 Tactical Series | Underwear | Holster Shirt V-Neck

A shoulder holster is the last thing you need crawling under vehicles and dashboards. It'd be swinging and banging into things something awful. They aren't even stable when standing.

When some people say that shoulder holsters swing, etc, are you including those shoulder holsters that are tied down to the belt?? A good number of shoulder holsters offer the ability to be tied down.

I'm thinking ankle carry might be the best for you.

Even tied down rigs are not secure, they still slop around depending on your body position and the direction gravity is pulling on them.

I agree with others. Why not look at a pocket gun. Aka Nosy Cricket

I am thinking ankle carry or smart carry...leaning more towards ankle carry. If you are going to be in lots of different positions and crawling around, you don't have a whole lot of choice.
There are two sides to every issue: one side is right and the other is wrong, but the middle is always evil.

Ya I think its going to have to be ankle carry. Not a huge fan of smart carry, I think I will be looking for a pocket gun soon.

I think the holster shirt looks like a good idea, but I dont think it would hold up too well
