Does anybody have a good way to break in a holster? I have a friend that bought a Galco (over priced) paddle holster for a Glock. This thing is so tight you almost pull the holster out before it lets go of the weapon.![]()

This is pretty normal, and IMO a good thing.
Have your friend practice drawing a lot.

One method I've used is to wrap the pistol in a heavy plastic bag (the holster is usually shipped in one) and insert it into the holster. Sometimes, they only need to be left for an hour, others I've left like that for several days. This will usually stretch the leather enough to provide for adequate retention but not prevent or hinder drawing when necessary. A method that I read on some holster makers web site (can't remember where) was to wrap the pistol in wax paper and insert into the holster. The implication was the wax from the paper would transfer to the holster and make subsequent removal easier. I've never tried this one as the first method has always worked for me, but thought I'd throw it in -- no charge.

Galco makes a product called Draw E Z that works well. If you can determine where the gun is tight, then inserting a few strips of paper at those locations, with the pistol, works to loosen the holster. You may have to leave it set overnight. It is important to go slow so as to not ruin the holster by making it too loose.

The plastic bag has always worked for me. Usually, overnite does the trick.
