My wife has a Sam Andrews Monarch rig and loves it. She loves it so much she has a second, custom rig on order from Sam. She carries a G 26 which is not a "full-size" tho.

I guess the cover depends on the cut of the suit or formal. Highly tailored and tightly cut, I don't know - I'd guess not.

I have a Miami classic that I wear under a jacket. Comfortable, but the jacket is a leather one, and has to stay on. They serve a purpose just not often.

I have a Galco horizontal shoulder holster for my Kimber Ulta Carry II. It is perfect with a suit jacket and some concealing vests. If there is a problem, it's only that it gets a little heavy after several hours, but no big deal.

I used to carry a Colt Commander and two mags in an old Jackass Leather rig (forerunner of the Galco Miami Classic).

Very good concealment, but always knotted up the muscles in between my shoulder blades within just a couple of hours.

Also, running more than a block left me feeling like I'd gone 15 rounds with Mike Tyson, trading body shots.

    Daniella,

The Jackass and Miami Classic are the best shoulder holsters out there. They are fully adjustable and quite comfortable.

Given that, how suitable this is for you will depend a lot on what you are wearing, how you will look with a cover garment over it, and how susceptible to being hugged you are in the environment you want to wear a shoulder holster.

I have two of these holsters, one for a Colt D frame (Det Spcl) and the other for a "medium semi-auto" (PPK/s). Since I rarely wear a suit jacket any more, I don't use them any more and they are collecting dust. If my attire was different, I'd have no hesitation in wearing these rigs.

I wear my Jackass daily with a GLOCK 19 and 2 mags under a button front shirt 1 size larger than I would normally wear. I remove the 3 middle buttons and sew them on a piece of velcro, and sew the other side of the velcro on the shirt where the buttons were. After wearing a shoulder rig for several weeks I got use to the weight, unlike a cop I don't often have to run with it on so that is no problem.

I like it, with proper selection of clothing it is as concealable as any other method of carry.

I wear one in Winter sometimes when I carry a full size full weight firearm out into the Badlands. Usually a Colt Combat Commander.

It makes it a breeze to gain quick access to my firearm without having to move any bulky winter coat out of the way to clear leather from the waist.
I carry in Alessi "pull through" rigs (up under my left armpit) - Very Fast because there are no retention straps to negotiate with before drawing.
I custom make my own strap/harnesses.

    It sure works for me.

I've tried several, including the generally acknowledged "best", the Alessi Bodyguard. For me, the best made and the one that wears the best, is the Andrews Monarch.

    To answer your question:
    Yes.
Mine hides well under a suit coat and is sterling for seated draw, such as when in a motor vehicle.

Looking at your avatar formalwear would be a little black dress!!LOL
The shoulder holster would scream FBI with that!!
With a suit I would prefer IWB tuckable that way you could remove the jacket if needed!

I have a custom Ted Blocker shoulder rig for my G23. They do serve their purposes. I have always found the biggest drawback is that when you want to take your jacket off, you can't.

You get what you pay for. Look for wide straps over the shoulder. This will help spread out the weight of the gun. Cheap rigs will be narrow and really bite into the shoulder if yo are wearing it all day.

Another vote for the Under Armor from High Noon. Best $69 you will ever spend!
I find it perfect for my RAMI and full sized CZs /Witness 10mm.
