I am from VA and maintain a residence there. I am there several times a year and carry daily. I had a few questions, one of which was about mode of carry. I went to my local VA State Police HQ and talked to the Major. He was very helpful, but some of my questions sent him to the filing cabinet. They are the final word on what's kosher and what's not. Just ask.
Ummm... I'd advise against carrying a gun into a State Police facility. Leave the gun in the car and take the holster you want to ask about.
Hope this helps.

It is not illegal to carry into a VSP building. And while they TRY to be a fountain of correct information, they aren't perfect. The whole legality issue is left to interpretation by a judge or AG. One cops opinion, even a knowledgeable and well informed one, cannot translate to a judge's opinion. It's like trying to compare apples and Klingons.

That's a good point. I'm in a thread on another forum where a LEO with 12 years experience just gave me advice that is wrong and would most likely get me arrested.
