I agree with several others to avoid the thumbstrap. You could be hung upside down and shaken by the ankles with a good holster and the gun would not fall out. When worn on your person with the belt snugged up the holster holds the weapon tighter than you think. You gotta pull em pretty firmly just to get em out. Thumbstraps in my opinion are an obstacle and a hindrance for a carry holster/weapon combo.

Wow - I'm surprised ... seems the thumb break isn't necessary after all - the consensus amongst experienced shooters is clearly against it, thats good enough for me. Many thanks

Nix the thumb break, you will soon learn that that is not needed...
Buy the holster YOU think looks the best and be sure to make your first holster box...

I bought a Mitch Rosen CHEAP off EBay for my Kahr CW9 and cut the thumb strap off. Works great!
