    I think you might be confused a bit...is it a Smith and Wesson or a Colt? The detective Special is a 6 shot Colt...the model 38 Smith and Wesson is a 5 shot airweight bodyguard with a shrouded hammer....

    Maybe you mean S&W Chief's Special? That would be a 5 shot j frame.
