5" 1911 in owb anyone here do it?

I have this one and it's my favorite. Rides high and tight. Sorry no pictures however.

I carry my Taurus PT1911 with a Desantis Speed Scabbard (black) w/ no problems. Make sure you have a good, heavy-duty belt. Check it out: SPEED SCABBARD

One thing about Desantis is that their stuff seems to be priced quite reasonably.

I don't do it often and I haven't done it for about a year but the few times I've carried a 5" 1911 OWB was with a small of the back holster that put the barrel diagonally across my back.

I would have no problem carrying a 5" if it weren't for the fact that I have a short torso and by the time all 5 inches of the barrel clear the holster if it's on my hip, my arm is so twisted and my hand is up in my armpit. It's uncomfortable and impractical.

With the SOB at the angle I can draw quickly and not have to worry about going straight up but rather, around.

I don't carry that way very much because 1) SOB is very uncomfortable for driving and sitting and 2) I have a 4" 1911 I can carry on my hip either OWB or IWB and that works just fine.

It can be done though. JD does it every now and then.

Regular carry mode 5 inch 1911 covered with a tshirt. Works well draws fine.

I don't carry my 5" 1911 that often, but when I do, it rides just fine in a Tucker HF1. The key is that the holster hold the grip tight against the body. Then practically any decent cover garment will work. A good gunbelt is a must, though.

I use an HF2 for OWB (5" and 4" 1911)....
