    Need a holster for S&W 40VE

I have an IWB holster but looking for something OWB. I tried on the Fobus Roto Paddle holster. It wasn't snug enough to my waist. Should I go with a belt holster or are there any close fitting paddle holsters out there?

    Thanks.

I don't care for paddle holsters as they place the holster to far away from the body, you want a good pancake holster to keep it in as tight as possible. I love my Bianchi Carry Loc with full retention, Don Hume makes a nice pancake at a reasonable price. I am also currently talking to Ken at K&D as his quality is very good and well known. Check out the list of holster makers in the sticky section.

I often use a paddle holster, but not the model you tried. I have used the Fobus Paddle, and the Comp-Tac paddles and find them OK. No paddle will hug the body as well as a pancake, but sometimes it is not necessary and the paddles are easily put on and removed.
I have found that the Uncle Mike, and the Galco paddle holsters do not stay as snug as the two I mentioned. The ride too high and the gun tends to want to ride out.

If you want an easy on/off holster that stays tight against the body look at the snap attachment pancake such as the one 5 Shot Leather shows.

Several of the makers have such holsters. They are nicer than any paddle, and in the course of a day are more comfortable for me. The kydex paddle becomes uncomfortable if I wear it all day since the hard paddle is against the body, and does not conform to the shape of the individual.

    Regards,
    Jerry

Lots of OWB holsters out there. Check out UBG, K & D, Andrews Leather, even Comp Tac to mention a few
