    The New "Thunderbird" from K&D!!!!

Some of you may recall my thread titled "A different type of holster" In it I described an idea about a combination IWB/OWB holster by simply removing the clips and having belt slots behind them. Well it soon came to my attention that a couple different holster makers had this same idea. Yesterday I ordered a "Thunderbird" from kevin at K&D sight unseen. He was awaiting some professional photos of it. Well this morning he sent me the photos and gave me permission to post them on the forum. Man now I really can't wait!!! I am having mine done in the light oil tan with bright white stitching and the trim piece will be in the darker brown leather. I think it will be a sharp looking holster. Even though nobody will ever see it!!
Anyway here it is K&D's new "Thunderbird"

First with the Kydex clips for IWB:

Now as a OWB with clips removed:

I think it will be a good seller for Kevin.

Great looking holster, but do those clips 'lock on' to a belt somehow?

The clips basically clamp around the belt. I am not getting the jean trim on the clips as I will carry IWB for dress only, but it is a great idea. Kevin said he has switched to these new slimmer clips and I am sure they are secure or he wouldn't use them.

The original clips on my Cochise Defender broke after about six months (my fault), so I ordered new ones from Comp-Tac. I believe that is where Kevin gets his. They look exactly that same. I couldn't be happier with my holster, and am seriously considering one of these new ones.

I didn't get 2 days into my 14-16 week wait before I added another Thunderbird and mag carrier for my 92F. If I keep this up everything in the safe will have a new outfit before time is up!!
Christmas will be here at the end of Nov this year!!

I keep finding myself returning to this thread to look at the Thunderbird. I will have to make this my next holster purchase. The only problem is now I have to buy a new pistol so I can order the holster. It is a shame I can't make my wife think the same as I do.

Cochise defender has both IWB and OWB capabilities. Is the Thunderbird a much better option?

In other words, why get the Thunderbird over the Cochise Defender?

I haven't ordered either yet, but was just about to order the Cochise Defender until I saw this...

The Cochise requires you to reverse the clips in order for it to be worn OWB, the Thunderbird has belt slots. When wearing a gun OWB I want belt slots to really pull the gun tight into my body and clips just won't/can't accomplish this. I hope this explains it. Call Kevin with any questions, he really is a pleasure to deal with!!
