Inspired by DefensiveCarry.com, another $.50 holster

Inspired by many of the expedient, inexpensive holsters here, I picked up my own Speedy Stitcher and stopped by the local thrift store where I picked up a couple of nice cases for eyeglass that they had, for about $.25 each.

I figure if the inside was safe enough for glasses, it won't scratch up whatever else I stick inside! Less than an hour later with some scissors and the Speedy Stitcher, I ended up with (and note the edge of the "UVShield" logo):

Not the greatest, but functional, and for a great price. I thought others might be interested in seeing just how big they make these cases and consider them for a great starter.

Ironically, my new Nemesis showed up the next day and bumped this one already.

"and up" plus shipping and handling; thus realizing a nice profit.

the slick finsih would tend to slide out of the pocket, at least it appears so. The Nemisis is made from a tacky rubberized material that really helps keep the holster in place. It's always good to know you can make it on your own though!! Good Job. but I don't think Milt has anything to fret about yet, lol!!

I'm sure there is some kind of cheap material you could sew on the outside of one side of it to make it non slick. Great job. Always good to see someone use some imagination and come up with an alternative.

Great Idea, wish I could sew like that.

Does it stay in the pocket? Not nearly as well as the Nemesis with its tacky surface, but better than I'd expected considering its slick surface. I was considering adding a couple of wide rubber bands around it to see how well that might work.

As for sewing skills, I just followed the instructions on the little sewing awl. They're simple, but I still managed to screw it up the first time somehow and had to cut everything loose to start over!

how about putting a strip of velcro on the right side of it, then getting a wallet sized piece of material with a matching velcro strip, to break up the outline; ie, give it a more wallet-like profile? i saw a holster like that in the shop, and thought about doing what you did. great minds think alike....

Cool idea. I'm trying to make my own "Smart Carry" type holster. Still in the "development" stage, though, lol. I've seen similar one's on different websites, which of course I can't find now. I figure it can't be rocket science, so why not try it out.

Hey, my roommate in the Corps was a Parachute Rigger!
