If I were to compare the DeSantis rigs I've had to the Don Hume rigs I've had, I'd go with DeSantis every day of the week. The overall construction, fit, and finish of the DeSantis rigs are better IMHO.

after much thought i've decided to carry OWB...would suit me better for comfort and I can dress appropriately to conceal it properly....I don't have anywhere to try these before buying....but i'm interested in the Desantis speed scabbard and the Don Hume 721 OT....I'm sure they are both great pieces of leather but wondering what you folks think of them. So opinions please and I'm still open to other suggestions as well...even though it'd make me all the more confused
Galco Concealable. Very nice rig.

Of the two I would prefer DeSantis also.
But if you can get one from one of the top makers even if it takes 6 months.
After seeing great holsters, I would not be satisfied with either. I do have a DeSantis Speed Scabbard, and also have a couple of Don Hume holsters. Neither are comparable to those by Sparks or Alessi.
I would get one of the Don Hume 721 OT, while I waited for a Eagle Defender or The Thunderbird from Kevin at K&D then just keep the 721 OT as a back up.

I don't know what you will be carrying, but you might also take a look at what David Bullard has in stock in his online store. Prices are very reasonable. I am having him build me one of his IWB/OWB "Dual Carry" models for a H&K USP0c with closed bottom.
Gun Leather, Concealment and Cowboy holsters, Azle, TX.
I would also recommend High Noon and FIST. I understand FIST is pretty fast and have not read a single complaint about them or their work.
Have a Desantis SS without the retention snap for my 3" model 66 S&W for winter carry. For the money it's a great holster IMO.

The Don Hume holster I have was disappointing from day one. The DeSantis is the better holster. The Galco Concealable already mentioned is also an excellent holster. A more comparable Galco to the Speed Scabbard is the Cops 3 Slot holster. They are very similar. Galco quality is very good. DeSantis quality is good. My one DeSantis holster is almost worn out...I think I bought in 1991, then switched to a new CCW in 2005 that rides in a Concealable. Either will give long service.
The Kramer Belt Scabbard is also a very well made OWB holster.

well i went ahead and ordered the Desantis Speed Scabbard....I liked the looks of my neighbors....if i don't like it after carrying it awhile i'll look at the fist, galco's etc...listed in this thread...thanks for the opinions and i'll let ya'll know what i think of the desantis after i get it !
The Don Hume H721 OT is a great, inexpensive holster, and you can order them from Gunner's Alley and they are usually very quick to deliver. I now have two - one for my G23c/19 and one for my 26.
