New Spare Mag Carrier - Horizontal, IWB, Tuckable & Kydex

To set the record straight, yes, new/different/clever designs ALWAYS interest me. When I get an idea in my head and putting it into action is within my capabilities then I have to at least attempt it. Here's my latest idea; a tuckable, "IWB", horizontal spare mag carrier/holster. That's a mouthful! I don't have a catchy name for it yet, maybe "T-mag Carrier" (since it looks like a T). If you think of something that fits give it a shout out.

I have a detailed writeup of it on my blog - hiddendefense.blogspot.com
I also have a short video demonstrating it on youtube - YouTube Video

interesting Idea. For deep concealment interesting. Now what if you turned the magazine slightl at and angle like the IPSC shooters do. like 45 degrees.
I'm not sure I like horizontal is all.

With kydex...anything is possible.
Most anything...it won't feed the hungry or bring world peace...or at least I haven't figured out how to do that with it yet.

I'm not in the business of selling this kind of stuff. I only make it for my use and to test out new ideas.

Good concept but it looks like the whole rig would want to pull forward in a draw. I agree titling it more towards vertical, maybe 45 degrees would be good?

Remember that I have this connected to the belt using velcro and I wear it positioned just behind the first belt loop on the left side so when it'd drawn the carrier itself doesn't budge. I made a little refinement to it by dimpling the kydex where the mag catch is so that it almost clicks in and clicks out. Unlike normal clips velcro will not slide along the belt.
Tilting it more towards vertical would eliminate one of it's best features (to me that is) in that it would then require the magazine to sit between the belt and the body. My goal was to minimize anything intruding into my waistline space.

I want one
I would very much be interesed in buying one, testing one for you.
I would like it so that I pull it with my weak hand from my strong side.
I think this arrangement is much more ergonomic than what you have pictured.
It would be a much more natural motion to reach across your stomach with your weak hand to your stong side and pull the magazine out. In this motion, you already have it positioned corretly in your hand.
I would order one if it could be bulit this way -
1. Glock 19 mag
2. Cartridges facing down
3. T-formation
4. Pull from right side with left hand.
Please let me know what you think.

I agree with you on that arrangement for when I'm carrying the gun at 3-4:30 o'clock, but this particular one I made for my PM9 which I carry at my appendix at about 1:00 o'clock so it would get in the way. I actually made one for a guy locally for his HK P7 spare mag so that he pulls from the right with his left hand. He wears button down shirts during the week and will unbutton the last button so that all he has to do is reach into his shirt with his weak hand to grab the mag. Since this first prototype I've shortened the tucking tail because this one was poking me when I sit. Here's my post with the current design - http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulle...t-magster.html
I'm not exactly in the business of making and selling these, not to mention that I don't own any Glock mags.

Very nice concept! Good ideas for sure. Personally, I don't see doing IWb horizontal......that might bend my magazines. Vertical would be good for me, but I haven't even seriously got down to practicing that.

I would probably want to wear it behind my hip... at least that seems like where my hand could pull it out at a natural angle... I like the looks of it.

I don't have any plans on selling them as of now. Partly because of time and partly because I don't have a wide variety of mags to make them for others. I did make one for a guy that's local who lent me one of his HK P7 mags. He loves it.
