Just got a 229 elite and I'm looking for the right concealment holster. Any suggestions? It's a pretty beefy pistol.

Something that tucks the grip heavy 229 in tight...I suggest a Kramer IWB #3...assuming you want an Inside the Waist Band holster...
I used to carry a P-220R in a Milt Sparks VersaMax-II!
Okay. I'll fess up. I carry every handgun I own in a Milt Sparks VersaMax-II!![]()

On another thread I mentioned how nicely my P229 carries in a Milt Sparks VMII.

I carry my 229 in a VMII. With a good gun belt it pulls the grip in tight and keeps it there, and the fit and retention is perfect.

There is no "Best" Holster. There is what works for me, and what works for you and what works for Joe Blow!! We all need to find what works for each of us. As far as quality goes, on the economic side you have Don Hume, great quality and a reasonable price, on the other end you have the custom guys, Del fatti being near the top with Mich Rosen, K&D etc... and in between you have sorts of great craftsman that will create you a holster that will last for many, many years. I have just ordered a "Thunderbird" from K&D not sure if it on his website yet, but I have started a couple threads on it. It converts from IWB to OWB, but as I said we all need to find what works for each of us. Good Luck.

I agree there is no "universal" best holster for everyone. You need to look around and determine what cant would work for you, IWB vs OWB, and get a good belt.
For a similar size gun as the 229, I carry my MP40c in a Double Clip which is a pancake style holster that helps with the bulk of the gun by smoothing it out and spreading out the weight so it stays stable.
