Well Im looking in to going and shooting IDPA. I am in need of a holster to use for competition. I want something that is outside the waist band that I can draw from as fast as possible. There is so many options I decided to ask you all what would work best. If it matters the holster will be for a pro size kimber, and Im also going to need a good double mag holder.
Remember IDPA holstrs have to be a basically stock, CC holster. Nothing "fancy" as IDPA is designed on the premise of everyday shooting scenarios. It has to stay hidden under the cover garment when you raise you arms straight out from yer body.
If you haven't already read and re-read the rules available from the IDPA website.
I have used a CTAC and currently use my regualr carry rig as thats what is "real world" for me. So I should be as proficient as possible with that set-up.
IDPA is more about getting over/reducing "mental mistakes" than actually shooting as fast as you can...it's training, plain and simple. If you can think of it in that fashion and you will be a much happier IDPA player.

This is where I got mine. Blade Tech holsters, knives and tactical gear for military, law enforcement, shooting competition and hunting.. Do a search on IDPA at their web site and you will see a nice selection, including packages that include mag carriers.
Comp-tac also makes some good holsters for IDPA, and their customer service is absolutely first rate.

I use a leather pancake Ahern holster for matches. My Fobus paddle might also be a good option, I just haven't tried it yet. I do suggest getting a few spare mag holders though.

I do go with the guys who suggest use what you wear daily. Just makes sense if you see IDPA as training. If you lookat it as a competitive sport then go Kydex. Faster than leather by a lot. Beauty of IDPA is accomodates both schools of thought.

Alrite you guys have been alot of help. I view IDPA as more of a game. Even though it is good practice, at the end of the day its still a game. Thats just my opinion, but I think Im going to have a blast.
I have a Mernickle PS6 and Mag Pouch. High rise, very quick and nicely mace at a reasonable price. He is a very knowledgable person and is into IDPA. Call him and find out.
The vast majority of IDPA shooters use a Kydex holster.
What ever you pick get a good quality holster that you can re-holster one handed.
I use one of my A10 holsters with a straight drop for IDPA and that works very well for me.
