I am looking to make both an IWB and a SOB holster from Kydex and could really use some ideas.

If anyone has made any I would live to see them!

    Nice!
I still haven't made loops for the one you made me... It is sitting on my bench waiting, patiently, for it's loops. LOL.

Thanks for the endorsement QKshooter. There are some real artists on this board who can bend some kydex better than me, too.

This is the second holster I've made from Kydex, and I need a LOT more practice before I can compete with the others here. However, this holster does have an interesting feature: it's a tuckable, with no clip showing over the belt. The 'clip' is threaded through one's belt loop and rides behind the belt (between belt and slacks) at 3:00. One has to unscrew the Chicago screw from one of the support points to add the holster to a pair of slacks or remove it, but it works quite well so far as security and tuckability.

Note that the shine one sees is due to overheating: I was a little free with the blowtorch...

Pocket holsters for my PPS and a customers PPK. Then some random holsters, knife sheaths and mag carrier I have built.

Interesting clip feature. Could you post a pic with a belt threaded through it too? The shine is indeed from over heating. It took me a while to ease up and be patient with the heat gun.

I used a pen torch for a while. I can tell you a heat gun is much better..

This thread has me itchy to play with some kydex... Looks like fun.

Does the heat effect the BlueGun any?

Again I like your blog as well. I really need to make one up..

What type of press do you use? Is it one you made?

I made mine but I think it is time for a better design...

(added to first post - won't let me add it again).

The belt stays on the outside of the clip; the clip is held from pulling out by its own shape riding inside the belt loop. Strictly speaking, the forces are transmitted by the loop to the belt, to both support the holster and to keep it from pulling out of the slacks.

Also included for clarity is another shot showing the holster in position without the belt. The holster pulled out a bit: the solid green line is supposed to be where the dots are. But you should get the idea.

Part of the reason I made it like this was for the concealability - the other part was that all I had left was a long strip of Kydex for the support portion.

Believe it or not I use a hunting foam seat pad and a flat 1"panel as a press. I just place it all on my work bend , then lean on it to form the kydex.

    Nick.
Yup, I use some cooking oil on the blue guns or Airsoft so the plastic doesn't stick to the kydex.
