    Galco holsters

I just ordered a Galco Scout IWB from LA Police Gear for my new to me Colt Agent (alloy frame Detictive Special).I'll have it in 5 days instead of 6wks to 5 months wait for a custom.
Has anyone used Galco before, what are your opinions?

Galco is a great choice for stock holsters. I have 3 and they hold up well. Enjoy.

I have a few Galco holsters as well, and I think they're great. They are all very well made holsters. Good luck with it.

They are a good off the shelf holster. I think they are priced a little high, mine is a little soft. Most of us have to have something fast so we have a Galco or Bianchi, while we wait 4 to 6 months for a custom. They do offer a big selection though. My Galco does fit my gun belt, but my Bianchi doesn't.

I agree. I have several and they are just as good for what they do as the custom ones that cost 2 or 3 times as much with a LOOOOONG wait!

I love their OWB holsters, but I've found that their IWB rigs are lacking.

just tried to order a galco holster that they said was in stock for my boss's xd40. Paid extra to have it 2nd day air. Over a week later it still had not shown up. Upon calling, they said "oh it just shipped out today, should be there in 2 days."

called back 3 days later: "I'm not sure, I'll have to have the shipping department call you tomorrow, that's their matter."

    no call next day.

day after, we call back: "your holster should be shipping in the next few days"

the order was canceled and now he is looking elsewhere for a holster.

Hopefully your experience with them is better.

That definitely put a bad taste in my mouth and I will never order a holster from them.

I have personally had great customer service experiences with Galco. I also always call to place my order. Sorry to hear about that.

Also, as some above have mentioned, the M7X Matrix is a great holster for the money. I like mine a lot for my XD9SC, I just wish they made one for my G36.

The best thing about Galcos are you can usually see and feel them in the shops. They are an assembly line holster, and don't hold a candle to the custom makers, but you can get one fast.

I have several Galco holsters as well as several custom holsters and I repectfully disagree that they "don't hold a candle" to custom made. The Galco holsters I use are well made, sturdy, fit very well, ride as comfortable or better than my custom holsters. My daily carry gun goes into a Galco (Concealable), as well as my previous CCW (Fletch), that have given years of trouble free use.

There are many quality holsters on the market and finding exactly what you want may take you to any number of them. In my many years of carrying the only holster to have really disappointed me was a Don Hume...partly for personal reasons. There may be reasons to go with another holster maker other than Galco, but quality isn't one of them.

That's why they make different kinds of chocolate.
There's a reason why no wait for some makers, and six months for others!
