If you are looking for a duty holster I would check out SafariLand. They are a major supplier for the military and a lot of PD's out there. They offer Level I, II, III holsters. Maybe some of the LEO's on the forum will jump on here.

Are you looking for something like a thumb snap/strap that covers the firing pin area?

Their SLS system has a strap that sets across the back of the slide between the hammer and firing pin.

On the website on the left side look for "Will Fit". It will bring up a PDF chart of what guns fit what holsters.

I use a Safariland 295 for my Glock 23. Good retention and fast draw. It is a level II. Some agencies swear by level III holsters. I prefer to stay proficient in weapon retention and have a fast draw.

Check their website to see if they fit 1911s.

Try looking at Don Hume...They make a nice line of duty holsters as well as Gould and Goodrich.
