Tapered Belts for looks or comfort?

OK so I'm probably going to get a Beltman 1.5" belt- is the taper option primarily for looks or comfort? I have a bit of a gut and wondering if this would make it more comfortable...

I like the look of the 1.5" belts tapered. I don't know if it is more comfortable.

Tapered Belts for looks or comfort?
Several mfrs indicate it's done for both reasons. Viewed from the front, it looks more like a "normal" belt. Plus, it's a bit more comfortable for the non-washboard-abs folks in the crowd. My reasons exactly.

My gut tells me to stay with non-tapered. I find the smaller buckle rolls into my gut- pain. I've got a tapered belt and I wear it very rarely. 1.5 inch works well with khakis, and jeans. I would have to try tapered again if I had to go back to suits. Lets hope that doesn't happen! (Even though I have an interview this morning at 9)

    Good luck

I prefer non-tapered, more comfortable and stable for me.
